I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and photograph The Street Hearts. A band rocking straight out of Westwood where they recently won UCLA's Talent Show, Spring Sing. The band features five members: Nick Valentini on keys, Nate on guitar, Andrew on vocals/guitar, Nicholai on bass, and Nick Velez on drums—several of the members sing vocals throughout the songs.
We chose the location Temescal Canyon, up in the Palisades, to capture a natural look. The Street Hearts acted natural and wanted to capture who they really are. These guys are young, authentic rockers singing their songs who I recently saw at the Club Mint, Los Angeles where they opened for Patrolled by Radar and grammy nominated, Della Mae. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard The Street Hearts cover of Bob Dylan's "It Aint Me... Babe" (Nate forgot the Babe and was corrected by Andrew). Even more surprised by their own songs in which they combined good lyrics and warm music; Nate shreds on guitar, by the way.
Check out their facebook.com/0thestreethearts to see upcoming shows, listen to their music, and hear the new EP "Merlot"! I had a great time working with this group and am excited to see their next show. And maybe see them on the bid for Outside Lands 2015.
